A book reviewing how the Global financial Crisis has affected society will be launched next week.

The Affluent Society Revisited, by Professor Mike Berry, examines John Kenneth Galbraith’s classic text The Affluent Society in the context of the background to, and causes of, the global economic crisis

It is published by Oxford University Press.

The book will be launched along with RMIT University’s Centre for Urban Research.

Professor Berry, a senior researcher in the new Centre, was foundation Executive Director of the national Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute and was first Director of AHURI at RMIT.

The Centre will provide a home for interdisciplinary research, with a strong capacity for policy-orientated research and collaboration with industry and government.

Professor Berry is a leading scholar of urban studies and public policy.

His research role at RMIT has focused on urban development processes, urban social theory, economics and public policy, and housing markets and policy.
