Seminar brief

Professor Walker will discuss an approach to climate change adaptation planning that builds on existing approaches and helps tackle the significant challenge of decision-making under conditions of uncertainty. Dynamic Adaptive Policy Pathways, is an approach that can be used to design sustainable management policies and practices for transitioning various policy sectors under a changing climate.

Professor Walker will discuss the approach as it has been applied for long-term water management in the Rhine delta of the Netherlands.

Biography

Professor Walker is Professor of Policy Analysis at Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. He is also a Senior Policy Analyst at RAND Europe. He has over 30 years of experience in public policy analysis in the United States and in Europe and has led several large policy studies for the Netherlands Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management.

Professor Walker’s research interests include methods of dealing with massive uncertainty in public policy making, the design and development of decision support systems (particularly for airport strategic decision making), and policy analysis for sustainable transport.
