Priya Kunjan is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Urban Research working on the ARC Discovery grant Precarious Dwelling, investigating experiences of housing precarity on stolen Indigenous land.

Priya’s PhD research engaged with contested claims to sovereignty and the intelligibility of political claims made by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples outside of Australian electoral politics. Their analysis focused on representations of January 26th (Australia’s national day) in mainstream and independent media, critiquing liberal inclusion and colonial recognition.

Priya is also a broadcaster at 3CR Community Radio in Melbourne, where they co-host the Thursday Breakfast current affairs program. In their work both within and outside the academy, they have ongoing interests in settler colonialism, racial justice and Indigenous sovereignty.
