Muthukumar Maragathamayil

Muthukumar Maragathamayil is undertaking his PhD as part of the NHMRC Healthy Environments And Lives (HEAL) Network.

Muthukumar is pursuing a doctoral degree in Built Environment and will evaluate the health impacts of social housing retrofits.

Muthukumar holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University, India and a master’s degree in Building Services Engineering from Brunel University London, UK. His master thesis investigated the consequences of retrofitting internal wall insulation in semi-detached villas in the UK, analyzing the energy efficiency achieved, as well as the overheating and condensation risks involved in retrofitting.

Muthukumar has worked as a Mechanical Engineer in contracting and consulting companies in the Middle East, working on the design and installation of mechanical building services such as HVAC and plumbing.
