Research interests include poststructural planning theory and methodology for strategic practice in conditions of uncertainty, more-than-human planning theory and practice, and problematisation of cultural heritage practices in spatial planning, particularly in China. My research is theoretically informed, predominantly engaging concepts of Deleuze and Guattari. Together with colleagues in China, I am developing new theoretical frames for planning based in Chinese philosophy and also exploring the spatial legacies of the Japanese Occupation of North China in the 1930s and 1940s.
