Nícolas Guerra-Tão

Nicolas is a Co-Founder of the RMIT Praxis Lab, also known as The Alliance for Praxis Research

Nícolas is a transdisciplinary researcher dedicated to exploring how urban spaces can support social diversity, coexistence, and transformative change.

As a young scholar with practical experience, I am deeply intrigued by the complex dynamics of cities, their people, and the invisible social interactions that shape public life. My research focuses on understanding how people coexist, mix, and move within diverse urban landscapes, using mapping and other tools to reveal how planning and policy impact these socio-spatial relations. Driven by a curiosity about the everyday activities and cultural richness of cities, I investigate how these invisible interactions in public spaces influence people’s perceptions and experiences of urban life.

As a co-founder of The Alliance for Praxis Research (APR) and the new Praxis Lab RMIT, I am interested in transforming research and education through the lens of praxis—promoting the union of critical thought and action to prefigure alternative futures.
